BIG BLOCK PRINTS
This course requires the Intro to Woodcuts class.
The 4-week course is an intermediate class which focuses on the composition and carving of an 8”x10” woodcut designed by you. Students will use both hand printing and press printing techniques in this workshop, and should arrive with 3 design concepts in mind (see Homework below). We will work together on composition, contrast and integrating textures into your design. We will also discuss the limited edition and work to create prints that are uniform. Participants will carve their blocks, rip their paper to size, and print their own woodcuts in an edition of 5. The course is taught by Claire in her spacious, working studio at 1110 Hawthorne Street, Unit B.
The class will be limited to 12 students with a minimum of 8 to run.
